This compact loudspeaker is designed to provide exceptional and reliable speech quality in active military environments, both on land and at sea.
The loudspeaker unit is available in standard (375g), lightweight (270g), and low magnetic versions with either 8 or 15 ohms impedance. All three loudspeaker variations are fully watertight (IP67), immersible and shock proof up to 70 g-force in accordance with DEF-STAN 02-557. The speaker is capable of continuous operation without failure or loss of sound quality and is ideally suited for use on critical communication channels.
Both the standard and lightweight versions can be configured in reverse polarity and all speaker versions can handle significant overloads above their 4W rating.
The loudspeaker units are constructed in two main assemblies; the 'housing' and the 'magnet. The housing is moulded epoxy resin and has an allowance for an 'O' ring which gives a watertight seal when fitted in a suitable enclosure. Internally, the housing is contoured to suit the bonded 'melinex' diaphragm and form an immersion, corrosion and blast resistant assembly. The magnet features contoured pole assembly to protect the diaphragm from blast and a porous disc to equalise pressure whilst still excluding foreign matter.
Standard 3 Inch Loudspeaker
The standard rugged loudspeaker is designed for continuous speech and tone burst sound on board all land vehicles and naval vessels. The speaker is capable of delivering exceptional audio clarity in noisy environments (both above and below deck) while withstanding constant vibration and sudden shock experienced in training and on active operations.
The lightweight version is designed for tight enclosures and areas where space is at a premium. The speaker provides the same quality audio output and retains the shockproof and waterproof (IP67) qualities which make it suitable for use on both land and at sea.
Low Magnetic Loudspeaker
A low magnetic loudspeaker has been introduced for systems requiring a reduced magnetic field signature, such as on mine hunters, minesweepers and MCMVs or any navigational and search orientated vessels.
The 3" lightweight rugged loudspeaker is currently active on over 12 naval fleets worldwide, including NATO, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand Royal Navies.
